Hey, I just had a little idea that I wasn't sure how to share. I think it will help quests go a lot faster;
Prior to when the mainquest is posted, there is a registration period that can act as an "accepting the quest" mechanic that moves the character to a static/parallel land specifically for the quest (explaining how multiple characters doing things from all different times and different places can all be on the same quest at the same time). When the quest is over, they get teleported back to where they are at the exact same time prior to starting the quest.
All people who sign up for the initial registration are the ones we wait on for about a week or 2 (unless they report that IRL problems are getting in the way and whatnot) and whoever registers and posts gets bonus points. Throughout the quest, there are times when registration opens up for late people at about a week to join without penalty/possibility of getting reduced bonus points.
Then you can say that characters have to complete so many main quests to say a character and not the corrupted to give people more of an incentive to reply ASAP.
What do ya think?
