○ Wakey, wakey, sleepy head! Can you feel the burn?
-
You, have picked up a new video game. Harmless, you decide. Something to pass the time on an uneventful weekend.
It is single player, rated E. Despite this, you squint at the content warning that says "Blood and gore" and "Violence." Odd, seeing as it was supposed to be rated E for everyone. You are glad that you are at least strong-willed and mature. It couldn't be that bad.
The company that created it calls themselves Re:Ality. They have no information about themselves anywhere, even on the internet. You know. You checked Google. Yet here it was.
-
○ Up, up, up! Or, down, down, down? Hehehe!
-
You, have turned on the game. Easy. It runs smoothly. The menu flickers on for you, and you notice that it looks rather dark. Not very friendly. Too bad. You're playing anyways.
You may design your own character.
-
○ Hurryyyyyy!
-
After what seemed to be an hour of indecisiveness, you have decided on your character. Your main player. They jump into the game, or, rather... fall.
Falling from fire in a black abyss, your character looks more terrified than ever. Much different than the gentle smile you gave them on the character design screen. Why did you do this to them?
Why?
Why?
-
○ Ah, you're here! Finally!
-
You are now your character. This world is not real. It is not right. You want out.
-
○ But you can't get out... Not until you've beaten all ten Levels of Fear, silly!
-
You can't get out.

The Burning Sleep is an experimental RP based on a make-believe video game that may or may not be real in the future. The story has elements of horror. The boss levels are based off of real phobias. Keep this in mind.
You play as a non-human creature trapped in your own dreamscape. Every player has a disease called the Burning Sleep. This disease is a form of fictional narcolepsy that causes all players to fall asleep randomly. It's the game's way of saying that a player has been in a certain area for too long. Anyone in a player's party will teleport with them. There are rare, random events where the player will be transported to a corrupted area after a sleep spell and have to fight a hoard of creatures off until the nightmare ends. Other than that, the Burning Sleep should not hurt them. Only annoy, since it mainly chooses to teleport the player when they're in the middle of conversations and important things.
This disease is not contagious, but the NPCs may treat them as if it was. They're very wary of things that aren't normal in this world, such as you.
